LEED Defined

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally-recognized green building certification system. LEED is a voluntary point-based rating system that was designed to assist users through the process of planning, designing, constructing and operating a sustainable high performance building. The LEED framework addresses the five major tenets of sustainability: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality. Points can also be achieved in two non-core areas: Innovation in Design and Regional Priority.
