City of El Paso
Plaza Theatre and Performing Arts Centre
El Paso, Texas
ECM International was selected
as project manager, by the City of El Paso, for the $38 million restoration
and expansion of the Plaza Theatre. This atmospheric theatre, which opened in
1930, is registered by the Secretary of the Interior as a Historic Place of
National Significance and is also listed on Save America’s Treasures.
The decision to undertake
this project by the City of El Paso and the El Paso Community Foundation required
the selection of experienced and qualified consultants to design and construct
this project.
Martinez and Johnson, a
nationally renowned architectural firm with expertise in historic restoration
was selected as the project architect. ECM was selected as the project manager
to coordinate the design, bidding, construction and environmental remediation
of this project. This project has required extensive coordination between subcontractors
and restoration trades to assure that areas to be saved are not damaged, but
yet allows for restoration of other areas in rehabilitated zones. ECM’s
project management program has resulted in the timely delivery of all project
phases and provided the City with accurate reporting for this high publicity
venue.
